Case Name: | Andrew Hecht-Nielsen, et al. v. Lifetime Products Inc., et al., and Saman Afrouznia, et al. v. Lifetime Products Inc., et al Case No. 37-2011-00089380-CU-BT-CTL Superior Court of the State of California for the County of San Diego |
Case Summary: |
This settlement resolves lawsuits addressing misrepresentation of the origin of materials and components of basketball products with Made in the USA label. The defendants deny the allegations but have agreed to settle. Lifetime’s defense is that when they put “Made in USA” on their basketballs, they weren’t referring to the ball itself – they were referring to the fact that the game of basketball was made in the United States. Simple misunderstanding! The settlement does not cover whether your replacement basketball will actually be made in the USA. |
