Case Name: | Stetson, et al. v. West Publishing Corporation, et al., Case No. CV-08-00810 R |
Case Summary: |
The plaintiffs alleged that BAR/BRI a service that helps law students study for the bar examination conspired with Kaplan, a company that helps aspiring law students study for the LSATs (the test to get into law school) to limit competition in the industry. The plaintiffs allege that BAR/BRI agreed not to get into LSAT test preparation business in return for Kaplan agreeing not to go into the bar examination preparation business. It is also alleged that BAR/BRI unlawfully monopolized the market for full-service bar review courses in the United States. If true there is a delicious irony that the two companies responsible for teaching prospective lawyers were blatantly breaking the law. |
