Acer Netbook Ram Settlement

Class Eligibility:

The settlement covers purchasers of certain Acer netbooks running Microsoft Windodws Vista Home Premium, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate, which contained 1 GB of Ram (or less) that was shared by both the system and graphics.

The settlement includes some netbooks with the following model numbers:

The settlement allows you to opt for one of the following:

  • 16 GB USB Flash Drive with ReadyBoost
  • $10 check
  • $100 check for reimbursement of performance improvements made before 4/25/13
  • 1GB or 2GB laptop memory DIMM chip, to get your netbook to 2 GB of ram.

Case Summary:

The plaintiffs allege that Acer netbooks were defective because they contained 1 GB or less of ram shared between the system and the graphics. This made the system prone to freezing, crashing, lock-ups, and generally crappy performance. The court did not decide the case, because the parties agreed to this settlement.
