Apple In-App Purchase Class Action Settlement

Class Eligibility:

The settlement covers in-app purchases of Game Currency made in certain Apps, charged to an iTunes account by minors, without the knowledge or permission of the account holder. The settlement covers incidents prior to May 2, 2013.

Qualifying apps include all games in the iTunes store that have an age rating of 4+, 9+, or 12+, and that allow in-game currency purchases. The settlement administrators have also build a widget that lets you search for particular apps to see if they are eligible here.

Estimated Amount:

You may claim either:

  • $5 iTunes Store Credit
  • Full refund in iTunes credit of relevant game currency purchases made to your iTunes account within any 45 day period.

In both cases, you may receive a cash payment instead of the iTunes credit if you no longer have an active iTunes account or you have claims that exceed $30.
